Blue Sky Celebrants adopt a Charity!

Blue Sky have adopted a Charity that is close to our hearts. So many people suffer from a hidden illness. This illness is so insidious that it is often not noticed until it’s too late. A footballer may break a leg, a bowler strain a thigh or a netballer rupture an ACL. Mental Health problems hit people across the board and sadly it can prove FATAL! Particularly amongst Young People who are subjected to a maze of unhealthy stresses and strains in their lives. As with all who suffer from Mental Health problems, often it is difficult to talk to anyone about them. BUT talking to someone is the best medicine. It means that the issues are shared and there is someone who cares. The Charity we have adopted is called PAPYRUS – Prevention of Young Suicide.

PAPYRUS offer a telephone Care Service called  contactable on 0800 068 41 41 or 07786 209697 or Below is an extract from their website:

HOPELINEUK is a specialist telephone service staffed by trained professionals who give non-judgemental support, practical advice and information to children, teenagers and young people up to the age of 35 who are worried about how they are feeling or anyone who is concerned about a young person.

In order to raise funds for this fantastic cause we have set up a Facebook Fundraiser so please visit and donate generously or go directly to PAPYRUS please – it really is a matter of life or death. Thank you so much. Here is the link:

Not sure which way to go…?

BlankSignWe know that when you are faced with organising a Life Celebration you face a multitude of choices. Choices that, in everyday life, you will not have to make. At Blue Sky Celebrants we would like to help you make some of those choices a little easier. No, we can’t help with the choice of dress, godparents or which funeral director to use (Although on our ‘useful links’ page there are some suggestions which we cannot endorse but can signpost you to). However, when it comes to deciding what content you would like in the ceremony or celebration we really can help you. We work with you to design bespoke ceremonies to celebrate, well, anything really. Would you like to include a ‘sand ceremony’ in your wedding celebration or to mark the blending of a new family? Would you like to ‘jump the broom’ or light a unity candle. Perhaps you would like a ‘rose ceremony’ to celebrate the passing of a loved one. Maybe put together some vows for a naming ceremony or celebrate an adoption. All of these things are ‘rites of passage’ where we, as humanity, move from one thing to another. These can be super-stressful moments that will have a lasting impact on your life and the lives of those around you. Marking these changes with a ceremony or celebration helps with the changes we face. Gives us a moment in time to look back on. Gives us vows or promises made that can shore up difficult times. Reminds us of the love that surrounds us through our family and friends, our values and our beliefs.

Change Pt. 2 – Follow your Dreams

I am sorry for the delay following up Part 1 but holidays have called! There is a fantastic example of Change – a change is as good as a rest – so they say!

Change! Change for me started at the very beginning of my life journey. I was three months old when my Mum left the shores of this country, babe in arms, for me to meet my Dad who was working abroad at the time. The boffins on Change will be able to tell you whether or not this would have an effect on one so young but all I can say is that the experience is something that has journeyed with me for the past 59 years, although I don’t remember the actual events. In fact, there was a lot of travelling in those days. I had thousands of miles in my BOAC Junior Jet Club Book – if anyone can remember those – before I was 5 years old!

Bearing in mind how the story unfolded; family break-up, boarding school and more (that will feature in further parts of the story) – I look back to what I have heard about that time with a positive mind-set. With absolutely nothing I can do to change all of this, to wind back the clock or start again, it has become a good lesson in how to use my story in every-day life.

So, what I say is; I am well-travelled! I have wide cultural experience! I have met many people from a variety of backgrounds, creeds and countries. This gives for an expansive outlook on life. It helps with empathy and the ability to listen to others without jumping to pre-conceived ideas or judgments. It has been a fantastic help in realising my dreams and in decisions that have led to career choices (the two things not being mutually exclusive, of course).

As I have said before, I am not commenting on the science behind the points I make on this Blog. I am just recounting some of the changes I have experienced and how they bring me to where I am today.

We all have dreams; we all have desires and guess what? All of them are achievable if we follow them and if we work hard challenging ourselves to achieve them. A great way of understanding this is to read biographies of people who have achieved against the odds; people who have followed their dreams and made them work. On the other hand, get yourself a Life Coach! What is that…? I hear you ask – more next time!

Thanks for joining the journey
